Updates on Gunner

Sorry for the delay in posting... Life with a newborn AND a 2 year old has definitely been interesting. :) And really time consuming. Which leaves little time for blogging. Anyways..... As you all probably already know, baby Gunner made his appearance last Tuesday, August the 16th at 12:01 pm.

He was one of the 2 most beautiful babies I've ever seen. (His brother being the other, of course.)

Daddy and I were definitely SMITTEN!

And big brother was curious too...

Gunner weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. and was 19 and 1/4 inches long.

Everything went SO incredibly smooth. I was a little worried about everything since I had such a tough time with Tuff during his delivery. But it turns out, those stories people tell you about easy deliveries, is TRUE. :) We got to the hospital at 6 am, broke water around 8:30 and was fully dilated and ready to push by 11:30 am. I pushed 2 times with my nurse and she said I couldn't push anymore until the doctor came because she was afraid he would come out before she got there. Once the Dr. arrived, I pushed one time and baby Gunner was HERE!!!! It was amazing. And SO much easier this time around. So easy, I might consider doing it again... Haha. Just kidding. One thing is for sure, I deserved an easy delivery this time around. I'm just glad it worked out in my favor.

Our first week at home has been pretty good. It's definitely been an adjustment for everyone. Especially our sweet Tuff. The good thing is, he LOVES his baby brother.

He stops what he's doing randomly throughout the day just to make sure his baby Gunner is ok. And of course, is always smothering him with kisses!!! :)

Gunner has definitely been getting lots of loving from everyone. Daddy went back to work on Sunday night and we were all sad. I think Mommy was the saddest. At one point, all 3 of us were crying at the same time. Haha. We sure do love our daddy and miss him while he's at work. Gunner has been getting lots of love from Daddy and I'm positive he's loving it. :)

We had Gunner's newborn pics made on Saturday. Amber did a great job, as usual! You can see a sneak peek of his newborn pics here.

I'll try to update again in a few days with new pictures and updates.

Let's get it STARTED!!!!

Today....
is the day, my friends.

I am currently in the hospial, hooked up and having steady contractions. About 2-3 minutes apart, already. The dr. hasn't even been in to break my water yet. My nurse says she thinks at this rate, she could have him here by 1:00. Hoping she is RIGHT!

Here is my routine, 39 weeks belly shot!

And here is one of me and my sweet hubster who worked all night and has had no sleep.
I lovie him. :)

And one of me and the MeMe of number 6 to be....

All hooked up.

Please keep me and baby Gunner in your prayers! :)

Hoping my next update is pictures of our sweet baby boy.

Home... For Now

Well, we had a nice long day in the hospital yesterday. 9 hours (to be exact) was spent between the doctor's office and the hospital. After 9 long hours of thinking I'd be there until baby Gunner was born, they sent me home.

I'm sure you're all wondering why. As I've mentioned before, I had post partum preeclampsia with Tuff so they've been keeping a close eye on me this time around (trying to prevent me from getting it again). When I had my LAST (or what I thought was my last) follow up appointment on Wednesday afternoon, everything was still the same (dilation-wise) except my BP. Even though it wasnt too high, it was elevated more than normal. So of course she told me to keep a close eye on it. I checked it before I went to bed on Wednesday night and it was a little higher than it was at my appointment. Then when I got up Thursday morning and checked it, it was HIGH. So I checked it a few times more while I was getting ready throughout the morning. It was staying consistantly high so my sister in law brought her blood pressure cup to check it after we dropped the boys off at school. After she checked it with a real cup and it was still high, we decided to give the DR. a call. I'm sure you can all guess what they wanted me to do next.... Come in and see the DR. After dropping Tuff off at school and picking mom up, we headed to the DR. Once we got there, my BP was still high so they sent me on over to the hospital to be monitored. At this point I was also starting to have contractions so they wanted to monitor that too. Once we got over to the hospital and all hooked up, I want ya'll to know I didn't have ONE bad reading for blood pressure. Alllll normal. But, my bp was normal, the babies stats starting dropping if I wasn't laying anywhere other than my left side. The nurse/doctor seemed to be concerned about this thinking the baby wasn't getting the oxygen he needed when I was anywhere other than my left side. So the Dr. decided she wanted to keep me until she got off and could come over and check everything out. This was 3 pm. She didn't get off until 5 pm. Which obviously meant I wouldn't see her until 6 pm or later. (You all know how it works in a hospital) Around 4 pm I started having some pretty strong/consistant contractions. Like 3-4 minutes apart at one point. At this point we thought I may be just going into labor on my own. About 4:45 the pain started to ease. Then the contractions started to ease. Around 630 the nurse came in and said we were going home. She said with my BP being normal and the baby looking good, they couldnt keep me for contractions unless I was progressing. Since I was still dilated to a 3 after being checked 3 times throughout the day, they said I had to go home. (9 hours later....). Well of course they want me on complete bedrest until Tuesday (when we're scheduled to induce). I don't see that being too possible with a 2 year old... But I guess we'll do the best we can. I stayed with mom last night since Jordan had to work but he's off the rest of the weekend so thats a good thing.

It was definitely a long, eventful day!!!!

Baby boy had a good first day at school. Mommy and Daddy are proud of our big boy! :)
Here are a few more pictures from our morning since I didnt have alot of time to post them yesterday morning...

His backpack is as big as he is. ha.
And if you look closely, you can see he's holding my BP cup. He was keeping an eye on his too. :)

Tuff's FIRST day of SCHOOL :)

Holding his pillow at school

About an hour ago, I dropped our sweet baby boy off at school. He did ok... When I walked away from him he yelled really loudly "Byyyyyyeeeeee MaaaaaaMaaaaaa" but of course when I walked out the door and glanced back in, he was crying a little bit. :( The good news is, I have a friend who had to go back because they forgot to bring something... She called me to let me know when she went back, NONE of the kids were crying. Yipppeee. I also called the lady who is "over" it to about 30 minutes after I dropped him off and she said he was doing GREAT! :)

I'm so proud of my baby boy... I hope he has a great day playing.

On another note, we may be welcoming his baby brother into the world today. At my doctor's appointment yesterday, my BP was elevated. She told me to keep an eye on it and this morning when I got up I started checking it. For the past 3 hours, it's been TOO high. I called and they want to see me at 10:30. I'm just starting to "feel" the side effects of High BP and starting to get a little anxiety. Praying everything is ok. If you have a minute, please say a prayer for me and baby Gunner. I will update as soon as I can!!!!

38 weeks

I AM

38 Weeks!!!

[and I think my belly has dropped...]

PREGNANCY HIGHLIGHTS

How Far Along: 38 weeks
Size of baby: The website I googled said baby boy is currently the size of a leek. He is weighing close to 7 pounds and is around 19 and a 1/2 inches long!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Friday's appointment put me at a total weight gain of 20 lbs. Just where I hope to stay.
Maternity Clothes: All maternity at this point! (I'm really running low in the clothes dept.)
Gender: It's a BOY!!! Gunner Blake.
Movement: Just a punch or a push here and there. I'm sure he's out of room.
What I miss: SLEEEEEEEEP. (I'm so deprived.) Being able to bend over. Being able to hold Tuff. Being able to breathe. Yes, I'm to that point!
Cravings: My cravings are running low. I'm actually starting to lose my appetite some.
Symptoms: I've been having some pretty steady contractions since yesterday afternoon. I really think he might be here before next Tuesday.
Best Moment this week: At my appointment on Friday I was dilated to a 2.5. We also scheduled to induce next Tuesday (if he's not here by then). I didn't want to induce (as you all know) but obviously this is best for my health, and possibly baby Gunner's as well. So whatever's best for us, is what I want! Please keep us in your prayers! As I said in yesterday's post, I'm having all sorts of mixed emotions and I could use the prayers. :)

I got a few pictures with my sweet baby boy this morning while my mom was taking my weekly preggo pic. I always try to get Tuff in the picture on Tuesdays and he never wants to be apart of it. This morning though, he must have been feeling some extra LOVE for his mommy. He came right up to me with his arms wide open. :)

[with a little oreo on his mouth]

Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!!!!!

Plans for baby Gunner's arrival & his room

I had my weekly follow up Friday afternoon. I was dilated another cm at 2.5. Even though inducing wasn't in my plans, the doctor seems to think I shouldn't go past 39 weeks because of my history with preeclampsia. She said going past 39 weeks would make my chances so much higher. Since I do NOT want to get that again, I told her I was ok for induction. As of Friday, we are scheduled to induce next Tuesday, the 16th... unless of course baby Gunner decides to make his appearance before then! Which is still very possible! :) I am definitely having all kinds of mixed emotions... excited, anxious, scared, nervous... Please pray for me and baby Gunner. We are hoping for a smooth, safe and uncomplicated labor & delivery.

We finally finished baby Gunner's walls this weekend. Here is a peek at that. (p.s. we are still waiting on the bedding. she hopes to finish it today or tomorrow)

[the colors are the main colors of his bedding!]

What do ya'll think?

Tuff had has orientation Friday night for "school" (MDO or preschool). He did SO good! Much better than I was thinking. His first official day will be this Thursday. I'm a little nervous/sad. But I know it will be so good for him. I just hope he likes it Thursday as much as he did Friday night. :) We could use your prayers for him too. :)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We are enjoying our last few weeks/weekends as a family of 3! ;)
