Antibiotics- Round 2

Can you guess where we've been?

If you guessed the DR's office, you guessed right...

Gunner finished his last dose of his 10 day antibiotic(for double ear infectin I posted about here) on Saturday afternoon. Sunday was NOT a good day. He cried, and cried and cried. I could not put him down. I also noticed a little tugging on the ears. Monday morning was not any better for mom. I called and made him an afternoon appointment to see our newest best friend, Dr. C. Remember this post last week about our weekend with Tuff? Well his nose has been a running faucet since then so I decided to let him tag along incase Dr. C. thought he needed to be looked at as well. Once we got back to see Dr. C. he confirmed that both of Gunner's ears were still infected. So, antibiotic- Round 2 is in full swing. I also told Dr. C. about Tuff's symptoms last weekend and about his nose running since. I asked him if he thought he needed to be looked at. He decided just to be safe we should go ahead and look him over. Good thing we did. Poor bud has fluid on both of his ears, too AND another sinus infection. <insert sarcasm> SURPRISE!!!! When we got to Wal-Mart to pick up our prescriptions, the pharmacist came over and began to "go over" each medicine with us and I stopped her before she wasted her sweet time and told her we were used to this and that I was SURE we'd taken these before so she need not go over them with us. How sad is that? Pretty sad. When I got back to my mom's she said "I know you've got to be so tired of giving medicine!" Seriously, ya'll should see our medicine basket. It's fully stocked. And that's just with the kids medicine.

Other than being sick, we haven't been up to much. Saturday the boys spent the day with daddy while mom and I went to town for a little shopping. We went to a few consignment stores, had lunch at Olive Garden and went to the grocery store. Afterwards, I enjoyed a nice long (much needed) nap. Sunday we went to church and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon listening to Gunner cry... a lot. Unless he was being held, of course. By late afternoon we found ourselves walking up and down the drive way in the stroller. It was the only thing I could find that made him not cry. The boy loves the stroller. And a bath. I think those are his 2 favorite things. :) He has been trying so, so hard to crawl. It's so fun watching him try. He's figured out how to use his arms, now he just has to figure out how to put those legs/knees to work. Check him out...

G-baby has also been giving some pretty sweet kisses away...
(Loving his Pa)

....and Tuffy has still been his normal self. Acting like a crazy 3 year old most days and always keeping mommy on her toes. :) He had a little visitor at MeMe's when he woke up from his nap last Friday. Only his favorite person EVER (besides mommy, of course;-))
:)

Happy Tuesday!

A little this, a little that.

We haven't really been doing much of anything but I feel like I, myself, am running in circles every morning and afternoon. The boys have really been keeping me on my toes the last week or so. Tuff is almost 3 and he's reeeaaaalllllly starting to act like it. I'm starting to wear thin with him. He's such a sweet loving boy when he's good. But when he's bad, he's bad. His newest things lately consist of

"NO!"
"I can't!"
"I don't want to!"
"Stop it!"

and the best one....

"Leave me alone!"

When I picked him up on Tuesday afternoon I was told that he spent most of his day in time out at school for hitting. Really? We have had many talks about this since Tuesday. I felt a little at ease this morning when we were getting ready for school and he said he wasn't going to hit his friends today. I've prayed hard he means it. I do NOT want my kid to be THAT kid. Does that make any sense? I know they all go through things, especially at his age, but hitting and ALL day? That's just too much.

Oh me. What's a mama to do? He's SO hard headed and stubborn when it comes to discipline. We are believers in spankings but they just don't seem to work for him. I'm also afraid it could give him the wrong idea about hitting. Any input would greatly be appreciated. What disciplinary actions do you all use for your toddlers?

Poor Gunner is in this race as well. I'm not sure who's closest to winning. If I'm not chasing Tuff around begging him to do/not to do this or that, I'm dealing with a teething and "trying to be" mobile baby. He is SO unhappy right now. In the mornings I have to sneak around him to get ready for work. If he sees me once, it's over. This morning he cried & cried and wanted nothing but his mama. In the afternoons when I get home he seems to be SO excited to see me but is always very irritable(afternoons have always been his worst). He wants to crawl so bad. He pushes his self over on his hands but as soon as he pulls his legs out from underneath he slides right on his belly. Then he gets mad. He's not into toys or swings or bouncys right now. His main focus is whining... and his mama. His teeth coming in really seem to be bothering him as well. The bottom 2 right in the middle are coming in at the same time. Can't wait to see that toothy smile. :)

Sheeeewww-weeee. I'm one exhausted mama! I feel like it's never ending around here.
Does anyone else ever feel the same?

I don't have any pictures to share. Just wanted to sit and write.

Happy Thursday!!!

Weekend

Our weekend was spent at home "under the weather." Tuff ran a fever most of the day on Friday, all through the night, all day on Saturday and some of the morning on Sunday. Needless to say, we went no where. Gunner is also cutting his very first tooth so he's been nearly impossible. I love this baby more than anything in this world but sometimes I wonder if I'll make it 18 years. HAHA. Every milestone with Gunner is a tragedy. Tuff was such a simple baby who took things so wonderfully. Cutting a tooth never bothered him. This is Gunner's very first tooth and he has let us ALL know about it. On the up side, I can't wait to see that toothy shining through. :) Of course it may be another week or two before we can see it that well. Since we didn't get out all weekend, I didn't take many pictures. BUT, I did get a picture of a FIRST. First what you ask? First bath together....

I know. Ya'll are probably thinking, 8 months and first time? This mama is a little nervous when it comes to water and Tuff can be a little crazy in the bath tub sometimes. Although Gunner is our little fish. He LOVES the water. He'll pick up the bucket I use to rinse their hair out with and pour water right over his face and not even flinch. Tuff.... not so much. We can't touch his face with the water or he has a fit. So this was a picture of our first brotherly bath. (You can tell Gunner is teeting because he's going to town chewing on that wash cloth.)

I also got this sweet picture of Gunner on Saturday. He was cranky so we put him in the back of Tuff's dump truck and pushed him around a little bit. He thought that was funny. I of course got his picture and it was so cute I sent it out to a few family members titled-

"Caution: Wide Load!"

Sorry for the quality. I took both pictures with my phone.

Tuff seems to be feeling much better since yesterday afternoon. We went to the grocery store and came home for some more rest! Now it's time to tackle the work week.

Happy Monday, friends!

Simple Reminders

"In the happy moments PRAISE God. In the difficult moments SEEK God. In the quiet moments TRUST God. In every moment THANK God."

I saw this somewhere today and I REALLY needed it. I love seeing simple reminders like this when I need them.

Happy Friday, Friends!!!

Sick... again.

Being well around our household doesn't last long... I had a horrible headace going on 4 days Tuesday afternoon. When I got home I decided to check my BP. It was pretty high so when I woke up Wednesday morning with the same headache, I decided to make an appointment. Tuesday night Gunner woke up a couple hours after I laid him down with a horrible cough and a low grade fever. The cough/fever lasted all night into the morning so I went ahead and made him an appointment for Wednesday morning, too. Around 8:15 we headed to the DR. My appointment first. She ended up putting me back on my BP meds (I've been off since I was pregnant with Gunner), gave me a prescription for my headaches and gave me a shot to get rid of the headache that I'd had for the last 4 days. The shot worked. But my headache was back when I woke up this morning. :-/ Hopefully once the meds get into my system, the headaches will reside. We shall see. Next up, Gunner's appointment. His appointment was at 10:30 and by the time we got there he was restless and very irritated. It was well past nap time. Poor bud. He ended up having an upper respiratory infection and a double ear infection. 4 prescriptions later we were headed home. Everyone rested wonderfully last night, thank goodness. Hopefully we'll all be back to our normal selves soon.

Tax Season is finally over at work and things are a lot quieter around there. I think everyone in the office was more than ready for a little peace and quiet! :)

What's everybody been up to? Tuffy has been playing hard and enjoying this beautiful weather on the days he's not at school. And Gunner has been showing a few signs of getting mobile. He definitely knows how to get where he wants/needs to get by scooting. He also turned 8 months old this past Monday. 8 months!!! Did I really just say that? Can't believe how fast the time flies by! I'll try to get his 8 months post up tomorrow.

Sweet boy is also starting to get more independent....

This amazes me since Tuff never would hold his own bottle. I think right when he started holding his own bottle, it was time to take it away. :)

Happy Thursday, Friends!

Weekend

The past week has been crazy! Work has been crazy! I work for an accounting firm and the tax deadline is tomorrow... if that tells yall anything. I barely feel like being here now. :-/ I'll be glad when Wednesday gets here and we all start to feel some relief!

Anyways our weekend was pretty simple. We did a few things. I got a few pictures. Friday night we just hung out and went to bed early. Saturday morning we got up and went to watch Harrison play soccer. Well... we went to watch Harrison eat snacks on the sideline. He wasn't too interested in playing soccer... Tuff really enjoyed kicking the soccer balls into the net (or back of) the whole time. My sweet boy. He's gonna have a future full of sports, I can already tell! :)

Being silly before we left for the game

Our future baller getting some practice in :)

Meme & Gunner watching the game

Harrison hanging out on his daddy's shoulders instead of playing soccer

Saturday afternoon the Smith clan came over to mom's for tacos. We were trying to get Greer to crawl....
He said he was too tired so we took his picture looking SUPER sweet instead
:)

Gunner was looking pretty sweet after his Saturday afternoon nap as well.

Sunday was pretty lazy. I had to make Gunner's monthly baby food stash. We played outside alot this weekend so everyone was tired and ready for bed last night. And all slept well, too!

Happy Monday!
